Raising the Barre

Mabel Modrono

Mabel Modrono had a professional dance career of over 25 years. She was a Principal Ballerina for the Miami City Ballet under the direction of Edward Villella, and it was where she met her husband, Tyler Ingram. She then moved on as a principal ballerina to Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and after having suffered a foot injury, Mabel discovered the Lotte Berk Method and trained to become a teacher. As a result of Barre classes, she found “a new strength” which led to a new chapter in her dance career when she joined the Broadway musical “Movin’ Out”, performing the principal role of “Judy” for three years. After “Movin’ Out” closed, Mabel joined the cast of the Phantom of the Opera, understudying the lead role of Meg until 2014, when she gave birth to her daughter Skylar. For the next eight years, Mabel knew she wanted to continue teaching Barre classes, and joined Exhale as a barre teacher and manager of their Park Avenue location, while also teaching ballet intensives and master classes for Purchase College and Coupe Dance Theatre in NY. In 2019 she was invited to take class at Forme, and instinctively knew she found the place where not only did she want to continue teaching with a team she highly admired, but knew she wanted to help it grow to share with others what had originally helped her find her “new strength” to come back even stronger after a dance injury and be able to fulfill her dreams. She knows nothing in life compares to what it feels like to encourage others on their physical journey, and to help them reach their highest potential.

Tyler Ingram

Tyler Ingram was born in New York City and received his training on full scholarship from the School of American Ballet, as well as The San Francisco Ballet School. Tyler began his professional career with New York City Ballet, and then went on to become a founding member of Miami City Ballet under the directorship of Edward Villella, dancing as a soloist, and meeting his future wife, Mabel Modrono, there as well.  His career extended to include tenures as a soloist with Feld Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Sacramento Ballet, and finally NYC Opera and the Metropolitan Opera, the latter of which Tyler retired from several years ago.  While performing as a soloist with both the NYC Opera and the Metropolitan Opera companies, Tyler began to teach barre classes for Exhale Enterprises in New York City, eventually becoming a Master Teacher Trainer for the company and training teachers in Barre as well as other fitness modalities he designed for the company’s seventeen locations nationwide.  He also lead and helped develop the 40 hour training certification program for studio owners nationally as well as internationally. As a former volunteer EMT and Crew Chief for the Central Park Medical Unit, and with a background in kinesiology and functional anatomy, Tyler recognizes Barre as the perfect blend of physical therapy and fitness, and he looks forward to bringing this knowledge to the Forme Team in an effort to enhance what is already a nationally recognized brand, as well as nationally esteemed teaching team.
